On Saturday, August 25, on of Air New Zealand’s 787 Dreamliner embarked on a very special journey, taking 50 children from the Koru Care charity on an unforgettable flight over the South Island of New Zealand.

Koru Care is a charity dedicated to providing extraordinary experiences for children with serious medical conditions or disabilities. For over 40 years, Air New Zealand and Koru Care have partnered to make these children's dreams come true, all in the spirit of adventure.

Before the flight, a "Around the World in a Day"-themed pre-flight party was held at Christchurch Airport to welcome the young adventurers. The event featured stations inspired by global destinations like New York, Tokyo, Fiji, and Sydney, offering themed food, activities, and entertainment.

Around 1:30 p.m., the 50 young passengers, affectionately called the "NZ VIPs," boarded flight NZ8477. The Dreamliner took off from Christchurch, following a route that included flyovers of Queenstown, Dunedin, and the East Coast.

Each child received a certificate onboard, revealing a star in the sky named after them, before the flight returned to Christchurch just after 3:00 p.m.

Air New Zealand's chief pilot, Captain David Morgan, who joined the unique flight, highlighted the significance of the event: "It was fantastic to offer children who may not have the opportunity to travel overseas the excitement of flying on one of our larger international aircraft, over some of the world's most stunning scenery right here at home."
